Experience Your Root Canal Treatment in Comfort

At Kennedy Dental, we emphasize preventive care but understand that root canals are sometimes necessary for treating dental infections. The majority of root canal procedures are performed right here in-house, but we may refer you to a specialist if needed.

We'll take care of your infection so you can avoid extractions and costly replacement teeth, ensuring your comfort along the way. The process is rather simple:

  • We assess your mouth and use digital X-rays to decide if a root canal is needed.
  • We numb your mouth with local anesthetic for a painless experience.
  • Dr. Kennedy will remove the infection from your tooth.
  • The tooth's canals are cleaned thoroughly.
  • The inside of your tooth is then filled with a rubber-like material.
  • We will cap the tooth with a dental crown to restore its function and appearance.

You have nothing to fear thanks to our dental sedation options and cozy amenities like pillows, blankets, and headphones. We'll make sure you feel completely calm and relaxed throughout the process.

Feel better with root canals in Portland, OR. Call Kennedy Dental today at 866-552-4346 to schedule an appointment.

Common Questions About Root Canals

Why have a root canal?

If the pulp inside your tooth becomes infected, you'll need to have a root canal or remove the tooth. Otherwise, the infection can worsen and spread to your jaw and even elsewhere in your body, causing potentially serious health issues. You'll recover more easily from a root canal than an extraction, and it keeps your tooth structure in place.

Are root canals painful?

While they have that reputation, most patients find a root canal no more uncomfortable than receiving a filling. The procedure eliminates pain; it doesn't cause it! We'll numb your mouth with local anesthesia so you don't feel pain. You may find it easier to relax if you also receive one of our two forms of safe dental sedation.

What does a root canal do?

When we perform a root canal procedure, it is because the soft inner portion of the tooth (known as the pulp) has become infected. For this procedure, your dentist will access the pulp through the top of the tooth, clean it out, sanitize and shape the root canals, and seal the tooth back. This treatment allows us to save your tooth while stopping your pain.

I have alot of broken & missing teeth in my mouth & hadn't been to the dentist in years. Dr. Kennedy was very nice & so personable. Always professional and kind! I have been a patient at Lombard Dental since 1996. Dr. Kennedy is always so patient with me as I have some anxiety at the dentist. His staff is so comforting and attentive towards me…. Always offering a blanket or emotional support. I left for a few years as my place of employment changed and I completely regret it…. But I am back now and so happy to be! Thank you, Kennedy Dental! If I could give you 10 stars I would! Rochelle Drakos

I had an absolutely amazing experience at Kennedy Dental. It was my first time visiting the dentist in awhile and the team was super helpful and responsive in answering my questions and scheduling an appointment online. The team addressed concerns I had with my teeth and showed genuine interest in my overall health. While I did purchase some oral care products, I didn't feel like they were pushing any services on me. I was very relaxed and afterward my mouth didn't ache like it does after walking out of some dentist offices. Money is always a concern, especially when not all health insurance covers dental care. The office has some great first-time patient specials and ongoing care plans for those who have to pay out-of-pocket. When I left I didn't realize how much time I had spent there, but they covered a lot of procedures from x-rays to pictures, cleaning, etc., but I was there for almost two hours. So if you're going there for a first-time visit I would just make sure you leave yourself enough time for the appointment. I definitely will be going back to them in the future.
